lunch with the robot

lunch with carolyn the robot is usually entertaining. today we even happened upon the indian guy from “harold and kumar”.. he was in the GSU to raise youth support for barack obama.

the spanish house

after dinner with jen and erika, the crazy chicas i met the other night, i gave them a tour of my dorm building (myles standish hall, which used to be a hotel that was babe ruth’s favorite place to stay). then they gave me a tour of the spanish house on bay state: everything from the “louis xiv” furniture (which they made up) to the aerobics girls in the basement (who i joined in with..) and from the laundry/sex room to how close their beds are to one another.

end of tour.

ortanique and salsa gala

i went to a little (reeeally little) jamaican restaurant called Ortanique near harvard square for lunch. i went with my food buddies mike c. and katie, and mike also brought sabrina. we had an adventure walking there after getting off the T. the food at ortanique was delicious and relatively cheap. i had a three-meat sampler and chose the jerk chicken, ox tail, and escabeche fish.. the dish also came with rice and plantains. not only was the food good, but the service was great as well. the food was served in under 10 minutes and the owners were incredibly friendly.

i’m trying to visit as many ethnic restaurants in boston as possible. if you have a recommendation or would like to go somewhere with me, let me know! =)

at night i went to the Salsa Gala at the Cambridge Hyatt with a bunch of my hispanic friends and their friends. i also bumped into vanessa and her friends. i walked home with jen and erika, two of the many new friends i made. today’s episode is brought to you by the word friend.

jen: did you know all those people you danced with?
nathan: yeah.
jen: oh, we thought u were just really good at picking up girls.

by the way, jacqueline and i were the only non-lame people for dancing the whole night instead of sitting in the lounge or leaving early.

friends in relationships

i ate dinner with my assassin (sarah w.) and her friends marisa, kayla, kristen, and francesca (?). oh, and erin my stalker was there in spirit, i guess lol. we went to shaw’s afterwards. i looked for a kiwi.

i tried going ice skating tonight with stephanie, maria, and jordan, but once again they didn’t have skate rentals. i had my own pair, but i wasn’t gonna ditch people and skate on my own. we worked with the change in plans and wound up hanging out in stephanie and maria’s dorm. i sat on a certain couch that had umm.. a certain history, according to stephanie’s roommate.

aaanyway, at one point in the conversation when jordan was talking about sex, he suddenly asked himself, “why am i talking about this but not going out to get laid tonight?” i didn’t have a response at the time, but later when i thought about it, i figured that hanging out with friends who have boyfriends is just as important as time spent on my dating life. both stephanie and maria are in serious relationships, but they’re also super cool to be with.

i’m not referring to jordan, but i hate it when anyone chooses friends based on whether they’re single. like racism and sexism, there should a name for when people discriminate against those who are in relationships. on the other end, i also hate it when i just try to be friends with a girl who’s taken but who assumes i’m trying to hit on her.
